Our Next Autumn Event
Our next event on Saturday 18th November will be an indoor session at Allendale Village Hall, Northumberland, when we host a double-bill of speakers. First up will be archaeologist Harry Beamish who advised on the excavation of the walled-garden of the Bishops of Durham at Auckland Castle in County Durham. A number of AA members took part in this fascinating dig which excavated a series of 18th and early 19th century pinery-vineries and peach houses. Harry’s talk will be entitled “Pineapples for the Prince Bishops” and it will give us the opportunity to review the findings of this important Auckland Castle project. As our second speaker, AA member Harriet Sams will talk about one of her favourite Cumbrian haunts - the Eden Valley. In this presentation Harriet will be focussing on the prehistory of the valley.

Please see the Activities page of this website for more information and details of how to book places. A reminder that our events are free to members and non-members are welcome to come along and join us for a small charge (again, please see Activities page for details).

We look forward to seeing you.
