21st May Day 10 of the Holwick Well Head Settlement excavation.
First thing this morning all trenches were GPS'd and trenches 3 & 4 had photogrammetry images taken. A plan view of those trenches will be published here in due course. The availability of a Promark 120 GPS was kindly made possible by Swaledale and Arkengarthdale Archaeology Group.
The team working in trench 3 have done a marvelous job revealing the secrets of this medieval longhouse. You will see how much it has changed when the photogrammetry has been processed.
Today saw the completion of the work in trench 4 when some environmental samples were taken.
