Clearing your browser's cache

Most browser's routinely save downloaded files like .pdf files in you browser's file cache. When a file is updated like when the new edition of the Altogether Archaeology Newsletters is published, then your browser may display the old version retrieved from your browser's file cache instead of the new version. To resolve this first reloading the webpage by keying F5 or Ctrl + R, or by clicking the reload page icon if it is displayed by your browser. If that doesn't work then you will need to clear the contents of your browser's cache. If you are not familiar with doing that then there are some general guidelines...

Clearing Your Browser's Cache

The object is to clear all files that have been downloaded on your device by your browser. Care: this process often has options to clear other data too. In this instance only select the cached files to be deleted.

Unfortunately, as browsers are continually being upgraded, any written instructions to clear your browser's cache can go out out of date. If you find this, then look for any section headings which may have changed names.

Try the two step instructions below:

Step 1. Open your browser and then open your browser’s main menu which will be represented by 3 lines or 3 dots usually in the top righthand corner. In the case of Internet Explorer (IE) it is the gear wheel icon.

Step 2. Follow the selection path for your browser to take you to where you can delete the browser's cached files. Look for your browser's name and follow the appropriate subsection below:

Firefox: Options > Privacy and Security > History > selection appropriate option...

Chrome: Settings > Advanced > Privacy and Security > selection appropriate option...

Edge: Settings > Privacy and Security > selection appropriate option...

IE: Safety > Delete Browsing History > selection appropriate option...

Safari: Menu > Preferences > Advanced > Development Menu > Empty Cache > selection appropriate option...

If you have problems with the above instructions, then the best option is to search the Internet using this:
delete
' your browser name' cache
and follow the instructions for your browser's
current version.
