Members and visitors had a choice of 2 designs, a deer similar to the ones on the Bayeaux Tapestry(actually an embroidery not a tapestry) or an angel for the more ambitious. The colours used were all ones that would have been available from natural dyes in the Anglo-Saxon period
The photos have been uploaded to the facebook page.

Good to see that the book written by Paul Frodsham(Archaeological Advisor), Martin Green (Fieldwork Director) and Greg Finch(Treasurer) was referenced in the December edition of Current Archaeology. It appears in the Just Out and Coming Soon Section. It is available now. Many of our members have ordered a copy and will be able to collect them at the Xmas Do next week.

A cold day for Surveying. At Blanchland with SWAAG

When we were excavating at Gueswick Jackie Macvay and Darren Carr from Tales From The Trowel visited us when the weather was wet and windy. Despite the conditions they interviewed Rob Young, Martin Green, Sue Wilson and Tony Metcalfe and have produced a podcast which you can download and watch if you follow the link below. Thanks Jackie and Darren for giving us a memorable record of our continuing work at this special site.
